The Switzerland County Pacers completed a regular season sweep of the
Rising Sun Shiners with a 65-44 win at Rising Sun on Friday, Jan. 22.
The Pacers kept control of the Ruler of the River trophy presented after
each varsity boys and girls basketball game during the regular season.
Travis Tackett, MVP of the River Town Classic earlier this month, scored
24 points to lead the Pacers in the Ohio River Valley Conference battle.
Tackett added nine rebounds and was 7-for-7 from the free throw line to
go with four steals.
The Pacers improved to 12-2 overall, 2-1 ORVC while Rising Sun dropped
to 3-9 and 0-1 in conference play.
While Switzerland County had four players in double figures (Keegan
Kincaid 12, Brennan Bragg 12, Tray Meyer 11, and Tackett), Rising Sun
junior Josh Uhlmansiek was the only Shiner in double figures with 10,
including a pair of 3-pointers.
The Pacers jumped out to a 15-6 lead which built to a 13 point, 26-13,
halftime lead. They kept that margin throughout the quarter before
puling away for a 19 point win in the end.
Ryan Lozier added eight points for the Shiners with leading scorer
Andrew Pulliam being held to seven, Zach Smith six, Chris Kaeser and
Kreigh Liggett four each, Alex Dennis three and Ricky Sparks two.
Switzerland County connected on 18-for-25 from the free throw line while
the Shiners were just 4-for-6.
Rising Sun returns to action Friday as they host conference and
sectional foe Shawe Memorial as they continue to seek their first home
win of the season.
