Candidates begin filing for primary

The Ohio County Clerks Office has started accepting Declaration of
Candidacy Forms (CAN2) for the May 4, 2010 Primary Election. The
deadline to file is noon Feb. 19. The last day to register to vote is
April 5.
Coroner Doug Hannan was among the first to file but is running for the
republican bid for county commissioner. He has served his allotted two
terms as coroner.
Judge James Humphrey has signed up for re-election as has Assessor Bobby
Joe Keith, Sheriff Eldon Fancher, Recorder Yvonne Walton and Prosecutor
Aaron Negangard, all on the Republican ticket.
Randolph Township Advisory Board members Ethal (Sissy) Potter (R) has
filed for the Randolph Township trustee position being vacated by Mike
Beckett. John Wilber has filed for re-election to the Union Township
Advisory Board.
Auditor Connie Smith and commissioner Todd Walton head the list of
Democratic incumbents registered as of Monday, Jan. 26. County
councilman George Kittle has signed up for a second term in district 3.
The offices running for election this year are: County Sheriff, County
Auditor, County Recorder, County Assessor, County Council Districts 1,
2, 3, and 4, County Commissioner District 1, County Surveyor, County
Corner, Randolph Township Trustee, Randolph Township Advisory Board
Members, Pike Township Trustee, Pike Township Advisory Board Members,
Union Township Trustee, Union Township Advisory Board, Cass Township
Trustee, Cass Township Advisory Board, and two District One School Board
members.
